If you want to go to the Alabama or Florida beach, it’s only a 6-hour drive! We have numerous amazing state parks and waterfalls to explore, as well as white-water rafting opportunities out east, and some impressive lake systems nearby. However our family’s personal favorite place to vacation is Lewis Smith Lake in Crane Hill, Alabama. We’ve rented an Airbnb on Smith Lake for three consecutive summers, and we love it. It’s only a short 2 hours from our home, and the lake system is massive. We spend our days reading, playing board games, swimming off the dock, kayaking, fishing, boating, and a lot more swimming! The last two summers we’ve stayed at the most adorable cottage @smithlakecottage and we always have the best week together as a family! It’s always such a refreshing calm peaceful week and we all look forward to it every single year! Lake life is the best! Have you tried it before?
